DiXi Group experts have outlined the opportunities for creation of a gas hub in Ukraine
Creation of the gas hub in Ukraine plays an important role in achieving gas supply diversification and liberalization of Ukrainian gas market. Gas hubs concentrate large quantity of gas supply that assures long-term energy security for the country, as well as gas-on-gas competition, which pushes the prices down. Gas hub will furthermore contribute to the improvement of overall business environment in Ukraine and to further Ukrainian integration into the European Union.
The study is aimed at giving a boost to expert discussion on the opportunities for the gas hub creation in Ukraine based on international experience. In the first part, authors of the policy brief described general tools needed for gas hub operation. The second part is dedicated to gas hub creation on Ukraine’s territory – in particular, the best place for its location and resources needed. The third part is focused on the assessment of threats and opportunities on the way to its creation.
The study has been developed under the Ukrainian Think Tank Development Initiative, implemented by the International Renaissance Foundation (IRF) in partnership with the Think Tank Fund (TTF) and funded by the Embassy of Sweden in Ukraine (SIDA).
DiXi Group would like to express its deep gratitude to Lukas Kulich, M.A. Candidate in International Energy at Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po), for developing this policy brief.
