The energy community has responded
The certification process of NEC Ukrenergo as an independent operator of the transmission system, which began long before the full-scale invasion, will not affect Ukraine's import of electricity from the European Union in winter, the Secretariat of the Energy Community notes.
Statements that this process may affect Ukraine's ability to import electricity from the EU in winter are false, the organization emphasizes. The Secretariat of the Energy Cooperative also expressed regret over the fact that the organization's internal letter to the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Utilities (NKREKP) was used to spread unreliable statements.
"We, as before, pay special attention to supporting Ukraine's energy sustainability by implementing practical measures, including increasing electricity imports and infrastructure repairs," the Secretariat of the Energy Community emphasized.
We will remind you that the certification of Ukrenergo as an independent operator of the transmission system, which began even before the full-scale invasion of Russia in 2022, is carried out to harmonize the company's management according to EU standards.
As "Ukrainian Energetica" reported, the NKREC called the information disseminated in the mass media about the threat of Ukraine's termination of electricity imports from the European Union an outright manipulation. In September 2024, Ukraine resumed electricity exports after a 140-day break, imports decreased by 7% to 437.9 thousand MWh.
