The storm left 477 settlements without power supply

29 July 2025

Due to thunderstorms and strong gusts of wind on the morning of July 29, 477 settlements in seven regions of Ukraine were completely or partially without electricity

According to the press service of NPC Ukrenergo, as of Tuesday morning, July 29, 477 settlements in seven regions were completely or partially without power due to adverse weather conditions (thunderstorm, strong gusts of wind). Power engineers predict that all subscribers will be powered by the end of the day.

Electricity consumption today, July 29, is showing a growing trend, Ukrenergo states. As of 9:30 a.m., its level was 4.7% higher than at the same time the previous day, Monday. The transmission system operator attributes this trend to the heat in most regions of Ukraine and cloudy weather in the western regions, which causes low efficiency of household solar power plants (SPPs).

Yesterday, July 28, the daily maximum consumption was recorded in the evening. It was 2.6% higher than the maximum of the previous working day - on Friday, July 25.

The country's energy system is balanced as of July 29, and no planned restrictions for consumers are foreseen, the Ministry of Energy notes.

At the same time, Ukrenergo emphasizes that the need for economical electricity consumption remains. Consumers are urged to use powerful electrical appliances rationally and not to turn on several such devices at the same time before 10:00 p.m.

As reported by "Ukrainian Energy", as of yesterday morning, Monday, July 28, due to adverse weather conditions, 459 settlements in six regions of Ukraine were completely or partially without electricity. In particular, in the Kyiv region, 35 thousand families were left without electricity due to a thunderstorm and strong gusts of wind. Electricity consumption on July 28 remained at a high level.
