27 September 2017

Hennadiy Zubko, Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Utilities Sector of Ukraine, reported that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine had approved incentive tariff setting for heat producers from renewable energy sources.

According to H. Zubko, the government resolution will enable implementation of a simplified tariff setting procedure for heat energy produced from RES. Such tariffs will also improve the competitiveness of heat energy producers from alternative sources.

The government resolution provides for setting a tariff for a specific population center at the level of 90% of the applicable one for heat energy produced using gas. Absent such a tariff - at the level of 90% of the weighted average tariff for the region.

"The mechanism for tariff setting provides for reducing the cost of heat energy used for heating the housing stock and public sector facilities", added the high-level official.

"Consequently, it is proposed to stimulate heat production using alternative energy sources", he noted.
