The Ministry of Energy responded to the Prime Minister of Slovakia

30 December 2024

The Ministry of Energy is looking for options for obtaining additional electricity if Slovakia, as Prime Minister Robert Fico threatened, stops supplying electricity to Ukraine

Ukraine is currently working on options for obtaining electricity from other sources after Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico threatened to stop electricity supplies to Ukraine. Deputy Minister of Energy Mykola Kolisnyk announced this on TV, Ukrinform reports.

"Of course, this situation is being taken into account in order to balance the energy system as much as possible and take these risks into account... And, of course, other options for additional electricity from other sources are currently being worked out," the deputy minister said.

Mykola Kolisnyk noted that after each Russian attack, there are, unfortunately, negative consequences for the Ukrainian energy system, so emergency repair work is carried out virtually around the clock.

"Despite all these attacks, and this year there have been 13 complex attacks specifically targeting civilian energy infrastructure facilities, the energy system is stable, balanced, and integral. And the balance is ensured, in particular, by the necessary schedules. And it is carried out exclusively in a situation where there are certain deficits, certain excessive load, etc.," he explained.

The Deputy Minister assured that the situation in the energy system is under control and the measures being taken are aimed at providing light in citizens' homes.

According to him, everything necessary is being done so that emergency repair teams can quickly perform their work. Interaction with international partners has also been established to obtain equipment and transfer it to energy enterprises, the deputy minister noted.

All resources, says Mykola Kolisnyk, are being maximally concentrated precisely where the situation is most critical.

As "Ukrainian Energy" reported, on Christmas, Russian troops once again attacked Ukraine's energy system. DTEK thermal power plants were hit, in particular.
