Ukraine's Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry sees no prerequisites for raising the price of gas for the population in the new heating season, the ministry's press service said, with reference to Deputy Energy and Coal Industry Minister Ihor Prokopiv.

"There are no prerequisites for raising gas tariffs, so my forecast is as follows: the price of gas for the population will not change in the current heating season," he said, accordung to Interfax-Ukraine.

According to the ministry, for the period from April 1 to October 1, 2017 the price of natural gas at the level of import parity was UAH 5,223 per 1,000 cubic meters, which is 5.7% more than the current price.

"In addition, a "summer" lowering price trend is being observed in European gas hubs," the minister added.

According to the requirements of Cabinet resolution No. 187 of March 22, 2017, the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry had until July 1, 2017 to calculate and promulgate the price of CIF parity for 12 months - from June 2016 to May 2017.

At the moment, the ministry has not yet published the price of import parity.
