The Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry has had a meeting with representatives of USAID, the TAPAS Project and DiXi Group to discuss issues relating to a data audit of the Ministry.

Acting State Secretary Yu. Pidkomorna said that the Energy Ministry operated a large body of data on which Ukraine’s national security and further economic development depended, and therefore, disclosure of this information would build up the general public’s trust in the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry as a government authority. Ms Pidkomorna also added that openness and transparency were a priority both for Ukrainian Energy Minister I. Nasalyk and for the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry and reminded that this year the Energy Ministry topped the list of ministries operating in an open and transparent manner.

The Ministry also plans to create a new website envisaging wider opportunities for publication of important information. Meanwhile, in order to raise the quality of respective efforts, the Ministry needs expert recommendations on how to organize its work so that the collection of a large amount of information will not require any considerable time or human resources. On top of that, the use of information should be user-friendly and automated.

The meeting participants discussed their format of cooperation in the context of the internal data audit to be conducted at the Ministry with the support of representatives of USAID, the TAPAS Project and DiXi Group who have extensive experience in this area. The parties agreed to launch the audit in July 2017.
