Finance Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Danyliuk believes that UAH 55 billion stipulated in the draft national budget for 2018 will be enough to pay subsidies.
"It should be enough," he said in an interview with the Dzerkalo Tyzhnia, a Kyiv-based weekly newspaper.
Speaking about the amount of funds for subsidies in 2017, the minister specified additional money was allocated."
"Yes, we allocated additional funds, about UAH 14 billion. And we plan to meet the allocated amount," he said.
Danyliuk also commented on the situation with the beginning of process to introduce monetization of subsidies for heat and energy companies.
"The government draft resolution introducing monetization of subsidies has already been drafted by the Ministry of Finance. We planned to manage by the start of the heating season, but it took time to coordinate this step with other ministries, because this is a serious, we might say, revolutionary change," he explained.
According to the minister, monetization is a step when "real funds are moving in the system, not pieces of paper, it's already very difficult to hide something."
