Government Receives Proposal to Impose Its Management on Hryhoryshyn’s Company

11 July 2017

The head of the Luhansk Regional Military and Civil Administration, Yurii Harbuz, has said that in order to prevent disconnection of local facilities from energy supply, the regional energy supply company Luhansk Energy Association should be transferred into state management for the duration of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO).

Yurii Harbuz has called for the transfer of LEA into state ownership for the period of the ATO to prevent total water and electricity outages. This is the third optional solution to this problem.

The first option envisages adoption of the government resolution which is being finalized now and which imposes a ban on disconnecting housing and utility facilities located in the territory of Donetsk Region and Luhansk Region until the end of the ATO. The second option is to license Luhanskoblenerho to supply electric power to the facilities located in the Ukrainian-controlled territory of Luhansk Region.

The head of the MCA has also noted that thanks to the intervention of Vice Prime Ministers Volodymyr Kistion and Hennadii Zubko, the deadlock in relations with Hryhoryshyn’s LEA has finally been broken.

It should be recalled here that LEA does not control its electric power distribution assets located in the temporarily uncontrolled territories of Luhansk Region, but pursuant to the government resolution, this company is the only supplier of electric power to the region.
