The amount of assistance for energy restoration to Ukraine from "G7 Plus"

24 September 2024

The amount is measured in billions of dollars

Over the past two-plus years, "the G7 plus countries have mobilized more than $4 billion," and the process is ongoing, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said at the G7 plus ministerial meeting in New York.

"Together, the G7 countries and other partners, over the past two years we have been working on mobilizing resources for Ukraine, for its people, to provide them with the energy they need, and for the country to be able to supply electricity to people," the head of American diplomacy noted.

Only in the last month, Germany, the Netherlands and other countries announced new contributions. In June, US Vice President Kamala Harris announced an allocation of $500 million for energy needs, and last month the US allocated another $300 million, increasing America's contribution to the sector to $1.8 billion.

"We know that the coming winter will be difficult, so our countries are working together every day to provide Ukraine with what it needs to survive the winter," he added. According to Blinken, the participants of the ministerial meeting in New York will discuss the current situation and plans for the near term in order to restore the energy infrastructure of Ukraine, which was damaged by the Russian strikes.

As reported by "Ukrainian Energy", The IAEA will be able to place its missions at Ukrainian nuclear power plan.
