The Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Herman Galushchenko, and the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Jeppe Kofod, on Monday, June 23, introduced the new head to the staff of the state-owned company, the Ministry of Energy reported.
"Ukrenergo" is an important strategic enterprise for the entire country, the management and staff of which are facing difficult challenges during the period of martial law, in particular, preparing for another winter in conditions of hostilities. Vitaliy Zaychenko started working at Ukrenergo back in the 1990s and worked his way up from engineer to manager, has systemic knowledge and significant experience in the energy sector. Therefore, I am convinced that the enterprise is waiting for a productive reboot, development and improvement of the investment climate, as well as effective cooperation with international partners," the minister emphasized.
As the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Jeppe Kofod, noted, the election of the new Chairman of the Board took place in compliance with a transparent competitive procedure: “Our common goal was to find a candidate who could most effectively ensure the achievement of the company’s strategic goals and at the same time have the necessary knowledge and professional experience to work in wartime conditions. It was also very important for us to comply with the requirements for competitiveness and transparency, independence of corporate governance, and the guidelines of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). And we were able to comply with all the necessary standards when making the decision.”
The report states that Vitaliy Zaychenko is a current member of the board of Ukrenergo, director of the management of the Unified Power System of Ukraine. While working for the company, he went from an engineer to the chief dispatcher of the Unified Power System of Ukraine (since 2015).
The professionalism of the dispatcher team led by Vitaliy Zaychenko ensured that in the first days of the full-scale Russian invasion, the Ukrainian power system was transferred to an isolated mode of operation, and then its connection to the ENTSO-E power grid of continental Europe. The Unified Power System Management ensures the manageability of the Ukrainian power system in the face of massive Russian attacks on electricity generation facilities and transmission systems.
As reported by "Ukrainian Energy", the supervisory board of "Ukrenergo" elected the company's chairman of the board. He became the chief dispatcher Vitaliy Zaychenko.
The Ministry of Energy amended the charter of Ukrenergo to elect a head. According to the updated charter of NPC Ukrenergo, the supervisory board can also elect the chairman of the company's board by a simple majority of votes - on the third attempt
