Electricity consumption is reduced due to solar power plants

25 June 2025

NPC Ukrenergo states that electricity consumption in Ukraine decreased on June 25 and corresponds to seasonal indicators

According to the press service of NPC Ukrenergo, today, Wednesday, June 25, electricity consumption in the country is showing a downward trend, its level corresponds to seasonal indicators. Thus, as of 9:30, it was 1.3% lower than the previous day - Tuesday.

The reason for this in Ukrenergo is the establishment of clear weather almost throughout the territory of Ukraine (except for part of the eastern regions), which leads to high efficiency of solar power plants (SPPs) and a corresponding reduction in energy consumption from the general network.

Yesterday, June 24, the daily maximum consumption was recorded in the evening. It was 1.3% lower than the maximum of the previous day - on Monday, June 23.

It is also reported that as a result of thunderstorms and gusts of wind on the morning of June 25, several dozen settlements in three regions were completely or partially without power supply. The regional energy company's repair teams plan to restore power to all disconnected subscribers within a few hours.

In general, the country's power system is balanced as of June 25, and no planned restrictions for consumers are foreseen, according to a statement from the press service of the Ministry of Energy.

At the same time, Ukrenergo emphasizes that, given the weather conditions, today there is a need to shift active energy consumption to the period of the most productive operation of the solar power plant - consumers are asked to use powerful electrical appliances from 10:00 to 18:00. The transmission system operator reminds that the Ukrainian power system is currently continuing to recover after massive Russian missile and drone attacks. Emergency restoration work at power facilities is ongoing.

In turn, the Ministry of Energy also calls for the rational use of electricity, especially during peak consumption hours in the morning and evening, to reduce the load on the power system.

As reported by "Ukrainian Energy", electricity consumption in Ukraine increased yesterday, Tuesday, June 24, as clouds and rain reduced the efficiency of solar power plants. Also, residents of more than 40 settlements in three regions were left without electricity due to the bad weather.
