Electricity consumption in Ukraine increased on June 24

24 June 2025

Clouds and rain reduced the efficiency of solar power plants. Also, residents of more than 40 settlements in three regions were left without electricity due to the bad weather

According to the press service of NPC Ukrenergo, electricity consumption in Ukraine increased today, June 24. As of 9:30 a.m., its level was 4.5% higher than the morning of the previous day, Monday.

Ukrenergo explains these changes by cloudy and rainy weather in a significant territory of Ukraine, which causes low efficiency of household solar power plants (SPPs) and a corresponding increase in energy consumption from the general network.

Yesterday, June 23, the daily maximum consumption recorded in the evening was 4.3% higher than the maximum of the previous working day - on Friday, June 20. This is due to the traditional increase in energy consumption at the beginning of the working week, Ukrenergo says.

It is also reported that as of the morning of June 24, more than 40 settlements in three regions of Ukraine were completely or partially without power due to the passage of a storm front and strong gusts of wind. The transmission system operator notes that the repair crews of the regional energy company are carrying out emergency and restoration work and plan to restore power to all disconnected subscribers by the end of the day.

In general, as of June 24, the country's power system is balanced, and no planned restrictions for consumers are foreseen, the Ministry of Energy assures.

At the same time, consumers are urged to use electricity rationally, especially during peak consumption hours in the morning and evening, to help reduce the load on the power system.

This is necessary in view of the emergency and restoration work at energy facilities that is ongoing after massive missile and drone attacks, as well as the regulatory technical measures that energy workers are carrying out in preparation for the heating season and ensuring its reliable operation in the summer.

As Ukrainian Energy reported, yesterday, June 23, Ukrenergo recorded a trend towards a decrease in electricity consumption.
