The government allocated over UAH 700 million for energy projects

25 June 2025

The Cabinet of Ministers will allocate over UAH 700 million for 35 energy projects in individual communities. Frontline regions will receive the most funds

At a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on June 25, a decision was made to allocate over UAH 700 million for 35 energy projects that are critically important for getting through the winter in certain communities, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal reported on his Telegram channel.

"This is the construction of alternative sources of heat and energy, the reconstruction of boiler houses and heat supply networks, the construction and installation of gas piston and cogeneration plants. The largest amount of funds will go to projects in Kharkiv, Zaporizhia and Sumy regions," the head of government noted.

This concerns the approval of the distribution in 2025 between local budgets of a subvention in the amount of UAH 700 million 783,793 thousand from the state budget to local budgets for the implementation of projects within the framework of the Ukraine Recovery Program III, noted Taras Melnychuk, the government representative in the Verkhovna Rada.

On April 1, 2025, the selection of projects within the framework of the third phase of the Recovery Program of Ukraine was completed. The European Investment Bank allocated a tranche of EUR 100 million, or about UAH 4.5 billion, for this purpose. This was announced on April 7 at the conference "Recovery Program of Ukraine III: Current Status and Next Steps" by Oleksiy Ryabykin, Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine.

In total, the government received 468 applications for the implementation of recovery projects from over 200 communities for a total amount of UAH 19.6 billion. Of these, 131 projects were selected and are due to start in the near future. Priority in the distribution of funds was given to communities from frontline regions.

The initiatives have been allocated 18 months for implementation, therefore, a significant part of them should be implemented already this year, in particular, this applies to projects for the installation of cogeneration units in communities before the start of the heating season, the official noted.

As reported by "Ukrainian Energy", the Government approved a plan for preparing for the 2025/2026 heating season.
