The license was obtained by a company from the international KNESS group
The National Commission for Energy and Utilities Regulation (NKREK) has issued the first license for aggregation activities in the electricity market. The regulator made the decision at an online meeting on Tuesday, December 10, an Energoreforma correspondent reports.
The license was issued to Vinnytsia-based Kness Smart Power LLC, which is part of the international KNESS group of companies, which develops technologies and implements solutions in the field of renewable energy.
The main activity of Ness Smart Power is the unification of electrical installations designed for the production, consumption and storage of electrical energy for the purpose of buying and selling electrical energy and providing auxiliary balancing services in the electrical energy market, according to the company's website.
The company announces that it intends to carry out aggregation activities as a party responsible for the balance of all power plants included in its aggregation unit, with the exception of power plants intended for consumption by consumers who purchase electricity from another market participant engaged in the activity of supplying electricity to the consumer.
As stated in the review of Law No. 3220-IX of June 30, 2023 "On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on the Restoration and "Green" Transformation of the Energy System of Ukraine", aggregation is a licensed type of activity in the electricity market, which is associated with the unification of electrical installations intended for the production and/or consumption, and/or storage of electrical energy for the purpose of buying and selling electrical energy, providing auxiliary services and/or balancing services in the electricity market.
An aggregator is an entity (electricity market participant) that provides capacity management services to producers/consumers/operators of energy storage facilities to provide ancillary services and/or balancing services.
As reported by "Ukrainian Energy", in July 2024, the National Commission for the Regulation of Energy and Utilities of Ukraine published the Register of Electric Power Facilities and Installations that Use Alternative Energy Sources.
