The President of Ukraine commented on the recent statements of the Prime Minister of Slovakia regarding the transit of Russian gas

"It's good that Slovak Prime Minister Fico has already returned from a vacation in a luxury hotel in Vietnam and is in Bratislava. Apparently, it's not easy for him personally - instead of getting ready, he's now trying to correct his own mistakes. It was Fico's obvious mistake - to hope that his shadowy schemes with Moscow will exist indefinitely," the President noted.
According to Zelensky, Ukraine offered its assistance to the people of Slovakia during the period of adaptation to the lack of gas transit from Russia.
"But Fico himself arrogantly refused. Many in Europe warned him that he could not simply do nothing and wait. Now he is trying to shift the blame from himself to someone else through PR, lies, and loud accusations. But the problem is precisely that he bet on Moscow, not on his country, not on a united Europe, and not on common sense. This was his losing bet from the beginning," Zelensky wrote.
At the same time, the Head of State expressed hope that diversification of energy sources in Europe, cooperation with the European Commission, and increased supplies of American gas will help solve the problems that have arisen due to the short-sightedness of some European leaders.
As "Ukrainian Energy" reported, there is no threat of limiting the volume of electricity imports to Ukraine from Europe due to statements by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico to block its supply in response to the suspension of Russian gas transit through the territory of Ukraine. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this on Friday, January 10.
