The Minister of Energy stated that the necessary amount of fuel is being pumped into underground gas storage facilities to last the heating season
During the Question Hour to the Government in the Verkhovna Rada, the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko emphasized that, despite the media disinformation campaign, Ukraine will be provided with gas in the amount necessary to complete the heating season, the press service of the Ministry of Energy reports.
This is about providing both citizens and businesses, including additional gas, which, if necessary, will be needed to generate electricity.
"Due to enemy attacks on gas production and storage facilities, the situation is indeed difficult. Of course, this year we will import much more gas. The minimum volume of imported gas that will be pumped into Ukrainian storage facilities is 4.6 billion cubic meters. Today, 2.9 billion cubic meters of imported gas have been contracted to be pumped into storage facilities. These contracts have been financially confirmed," the Minister of Energy of Ukraine informed.
As a reminder, earlier, Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Mykola Kolisnyk stated that in preparation for the autumn-winter period of 2025/2026, the Ministry of Energy and NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine are accumulating a sufficient amount of fuel in underground storage facilities during the preheating season to get through the winter as safely as possible. According to him, in May 2025, Ukraine pumped 1.5 times more fuel into underground storage facilities than in May 2024.
As reported by "Ukrainian Energy", according to experts, gas reserves in Ukrainian underground storage facilities have exceeded 7 billion cubic meters. m. As of June 6, 2025, the underground storage facilities are 22.6% full. By the beginning of the heating season, Ukraine needs to accumulate at least 12.65 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
