ZAO is on the verge of a blackout again

21 November 2024

One of the two power lines is dead.

The Zaporizhzhia NPP is on the verge of a blackout for the second time in a week due to Russian shelling. The Ministry of Energy will report this.

As a result of shelling by Russian troops, one of the two power lines of the occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP was cut off. Currently, the station is connected to the Ukrainian power system by only one power transmission line. If the last line is disconnected, another complete blackout will occur at the Zaporizhzhia station. This is a serious violation of the conditions of safe operation and threatens the development of an accident.

"For the second time this week, there is a real threat of a blackout at the Zaporizhzhia NPP due to Russian shelling. Today, a meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors will be held in Vienna, and we insist on the immediate full implementation of the resolution on the return of the occupied station to the control of Ukraine. Only in this way can the safe operation of the Zaporizhzhia NPP be guaranteed," said Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko.

Energy workers will begin restoring full power to the station as soon as the security situation allows.

As reported by "Ukrainian Energy", оn Thursday, November 21, in Kyiv, Kyiv, Odessa, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk regions, emergency power outages will be implemented by order of Ukrenergo.
