The next batch of machinery and equipment for the future construction of the third power unit of the Khmelnytsky NPP has arrived. This is reported in Energoatom.
A third diesel generator was delivered to the facility. It will become part of the backup power system. This equipment is intended for the safety of the power unit in case of emergency situations. Each of the diesel generators is able to autonomously supply electricity to important systems of the station.
It is these diesel generators that help the Zaporizhzhia NPP to avoid an accident when the plant loses connection with all overhead lines and the energy system of Ukraine.
Completion of the third power unit of the Khmelnytsky NPP is one of the priority projects of NAEC "Energoatom" to increase the energy security of Ukraine. The company's specialists are actively working on preparations for the completion of power units No. 3 and No. 4 of the Khmelnytsky NPP. Repair and restoration works are ongoing on the territory.
Completion of construction will significantly increase electricity generation at NPP. The new power unit will be an important step towards energy independence of the country.
On Monday, October 21, due to systematic Russian shelling, one of the two power transmission lines connecting the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhya NPP with the unified energy system of Ukraine was disconnected.
