All nuclear facilities in Ukraine are under constant supervision of IAEA inspectors, who have access to all nuclear power plants and regularly report on the situation at the stations
Russian propaganda is spreading disinformation that Kyiv "hid an emergency failure" at the South Ukrainian nuclear power plant, which could have led to a disaster.
This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation.
The Center verified the information from NNEGC Energoatom and concluded that the statements of the Kremlin propaganda are not true.
The South Ukrainian NPP is operating normally, as confirmed by IAEA reports. The July 4 report only mentions an emergency shutdown of the power transmission line at the Zaporizhzhia NPP due to shelling. The July 1 report also mentions drone attacks around and near nuclear plants, including the South Ukrainian NPP.
"Statements about the alleged "concealment" of information regarding the situation at the South Ukrainian NPP have nothing to do with reality. All nuclear facilities in Ukraine are under constant control of IAEA inspectors, who have access to all NPPs and regularly report on the situation at the stations," the Central Nuclear Safety Commission said in a statement.
The Center urges to trust only information from primary sources, because Russian propaganda uses such disinformation to discredit Ukrainian energy security, trying to cause panic among the population.
As reported by "Ukrainian Energy", on July 4, another blackout occurred at the Zaporizhzhia NPP due to a strike by Russian troops. Within a few hours, energy workers restored the operation of one of the power transmission lines connecting the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP with the unified power system of Ukraine.
