Ukrenergo notes decrease in electricity consumption on June 16

16 June 2025

Clear weather contributes to the efficient operation of household solar power plants, so energy consumption from the general grid has decreased

Today, Monday, June 16, as of 9:30 a.m., the level of electricity consumption in Ukraine was 2.6% lower than the previous working day - Friday, June 13, the press service of NPC Ukrenergo reports.

The changes, as the transmission system operator explains, are due to clear weather almost throughout Ukraine, except for some eastern regions. It contributes to the efficient operation of household solar power plants (SPPs) and, accordingly, a reduction in energy consumption from the general network.

On Sunday, June 15, the daily maximum consumption was recorded in the evening. It was at the same level as the maximum of the previous Sunday, June 8.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Energy, as of June 16, the power system of Ukraine is balanced, and no planned restrictions for consumers are foreseen.

At the same time, Ukraine's power system needs help in balancing, as energy workers continue emergency and restoration work at facilities after massive Russian missile and drone attacks, Ukrenergo emphasizes.

In addition, the Ministry of Energy reminds that energy workers are currently carrying out scheduled repairs to prepare for the heating season and stable operation of equipment during summer temperature peaks. Therefore, consumers are urged to use powerful electrical appliances during the most efficient operation of solar power plants, that is, during the daytime.

As reported by "Ukrainian Energy", Ukraine provided IAEA, US with data on Russian threat to nuclear energy. The President of Ukraine held a meeting the day before with the military, SBU representatives, and government officials regarding the protection of infrastructure from Russian attacks
