In the first half of 2025, distribution system operators (DSOs, regional energy companies) repaired over 14.4 thousand km and cleared about 24 thousand km of overhead line routes – Derzhenergonahlyd
During January–June 2025, distribution system operators, as part of the implementation of planned repair measures in power grids, performed the following volumes of work:
● more than 14.4 thousand km of overhead lines (OL) were repaired;
● approximately 24 thousand km of OHL routes were cleared;
● more than 26 km of lightning protection cable were replaced.
A number of works have also been carried out on substations, transformer substations, and other electrical equipment.
This was reported by the State Inspectorate for Energy Supervision (Derzhenergonazlyad) with reference to information received from the DSO based on the results of control (monitoring) of their implementation of planned repairs of power grids in the first half of 2025.
This includes, in particular, the repair of equipment of various voltage classes, taking emergency measures, responding to emergencies, and clearing overhead power line routes, the State Energy Supervision Agency specifies.
Repair work is carried out in accordance with annual schedules formed by the DSO within the framework of the Program for Ensuring the Reliability of Electrical Networks, approved by the Ministry of Energy.
It is noted that these works are of key importance for the reliable functioning of the power system, especially on the eve of the heating season.
"Scheduled repairs are not only a means of preventing technological disruptions, but also systematic work to maintain the proper technical condition of the energy infrastructure. Their implementation ensures the stability of the operation of electrical networks in normal and emergency conditions, and also allows the energy system to meet modern load and reliability requirements. In wartime, such work is an important component of the state's energy security," the State Energy Supervision Agency emphasizes.
Territorial bodies of the State Energy Supervision Agency monitor the completeness and quality of the measures taken, which provides grounds for an objective analysis of the effectiveness of the work and adjustment of plans for the following periods, the agency emphasizes, the message says. In addition, during the monitoring process, cases of improper attitude of the DSO to the implementation of repairs are promptly identified, which allows timely response to shortcomings and prevent the occurrence of critical malfunctions in the networks.
As reported by "Ukrainian Energy", during monitoring the readiness of substations and power grids to operate in the heat, the State Energy Supervision Agency recorded more than 2.3 thousand observations, of which regional energy companies eliminated about 1.9 thousand as of mid-June 2025.
