If there is a deficit in the energy system, the country will not export a single kilowatt, assures Herman Galushchenko
The sale of surplus electricity abroad is possible only and exclusively in the absence of a deficit and any restrictions within the country. This was stated by the Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko on the air of the National Marathon "United News", the press service of the Ministry of Energy reports.
"If we have a deficit, even 1 kilowatt, not a single kilowatt will be sent for export. That is, if there is a deficit, which was a consequence of Russian strikes on the energy sector, there can be no question of exporting electricity from Ukraine," the minister noted.
Export is possible only during periods of surplus, which may occur during hours of minimum consumption, the Ministry of Energy says. To meet the needs of Ukrainian consumers during peak consumption hours, Ukraine imports additional electricity from neighboring EU countries.
As reported by "Ukrainian Energy", Ukraine began exporting electricity to Moldova on the night of January 2. "Energoatom" sells electricity at night, when it has a surplus.
