The Cabinet of Ministers plans to strengthen the protection of power distribution systems and generation facilities using shelters and means of anti-aircraft and anti-missile defense.
“We plan to implement effective measures that will protect distribution substations from enemy drone and missile attacks. The relevant projects have already been developed and will soon be implemented. We will do this during the year, preparing for the next heating season,” the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal reported during the press conference dedicated to the results of the government’s three-year work.
He emphasized that it is planned to take care of the safety of power plants.
“They already have anti-aircraft and anti-missile defense systems. This made it possible to protect them from Russian terrorists this winter,” the Prime Minister said.
As Ukrainian Energy reported, massive missile attacks and drone attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure have been ongoing since October 10, 2022.
According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, 255 missiles and drones hit Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in 4.5 months. 214 of them hit the facilities of the high-voltage network of NEC Ukrenergo.
