Ukraine will receive half of the amount from the rent for mineral extraction, issuance of new special permits for subsoil use and sales
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has approved amendments to the Budget Code to implement the Minerals Agreement with the United States. 309 MPs voted "yes".
This was reported by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
Among the proposed changes - Ukraine will contribute half of the amount of:
- rents for the extraction of minerals (oil, gas, gas condensate, etc.) from new licenses;
- issuance of new special permits for the use of subsoil;
- sale of the state part of the production under new production sharing agreements.
The money received will be credited to a special fund of the State Budget and, by decision of the chief administrator from Ukraine, will be transferred to the Reconstruction Fund under the agreement.
For reference: On May 1, Ukraine and the United States signed the Subsoil Agreement. The document concerns 57 minerals. US President Donald Trump said that signing the subsoil agreement "will protect US investments and the financial assistance that Washington provides to Kyiv." On May 8, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ratified the agreement, and on May 12, President Zelensky signed the relevant law. Two technical agreements concern the creation of an investment fund for the subsoil agreement.
As reported by "Ukrainian Energy", the government has updated the list of minerals of state and local importance. The list includes natural hydrogen, gas from tight rock reservoirs, and others.
