IAEA will guarantee safety during the completion of construction of additional units at Khmelnytskyi NPP
Ukraine and the IAEA have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of supporting energy recovery and announced further cooperation. This was reported by the Office of the President.
In particular, on the sidelines of the Conference on the Restoration of Ukraine, which is underway in Rome, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.
It is noted that the Head of State thanked the IAEA and personally Rafael Grossi for their support and willingness to help. The President emphasized that the protection of nuclear energy infrastructure is critically important for the stability and security of Ukraine.
In the presence of Volodymyr Zelensky, the Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Herman Galushchenko, and Rafael Grossi signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the IAEA and the Government of Ukraine on cooperation in supporting the recovery of Ukraine.
The document, in particular, states that the IAEA will be a guarantor of safety during the completion of the construction of additional units at the Khmelnytskyi NPP. In addition, support for the exploration, extraction and production of uranium resources in Ukraine is enshrined, which is important for strengthening the energy security of our country.
As reported by "Ukrainian Energy", the EU is allocating a new package of 2.3 billion euros to Ukraine for recovery. In particular, 600 million euros will be allocated to energy, transport, and production.
