This is stated in the State Nuclear Regulation Inspection of Ukraine
Russia is trying to legalize the armed seizure and occupation of peaceful nuclear facilities of Ukraine, using the instrument of international conventions.
This was stated by the head of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspection of Ukraine Oleg Korikov at a meeting of the Western European Association of Nuclear Safety Regulatory Authorities (WENRA).
"As part of the preparation for the 8th meeting of the parties to the Joint Convention on the Safety of Spent Fuel Management and on the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management, Russia, as a party to the convention, in its national report presented a statistical formation regarding the Ukrainian nuclear facilities occupied by it, located at the site of the Zaporizhzhya NPP and in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea resolutions of the UN General Assembly, the General Conference and the Board of Governors of the IAEA," said Korikov.
He called on WENRA to prevent the use of international instruments for ensuring global nuclear and radiation safety, such as the Joint Convention, to legalize the Kremlin's aggression and terror against Ukraine's nuclear facilities.
WENRA member countries expressed full solidarity with Ukraine.
As "Ukrainian Energy" reported, schedules of emergency power outages were introduced in Kyiv due to the threat of a missile attack. This was reported by the Kyiv City Military Administration. It is noted that this is a preventive measure.
