On Saturday, July 12, gunfire was heard at the Zaporizhzhia NPP for about an hour late in the evening. On Sunday morning, July 13, shell casings from small arms were found near reactors No. 5 and No. 6.
This was reported by the International Atomic Energy Agency.
"The IAEA team at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine reported hearing hundreds of small arms shots last night," the IAEA said in a statement.
According to experts, many shots were heard at the ZNPP for about one hour, starting at 10:00 PM local time.
"During their patrol of the area on Sunday morning, they saw numerous small-caliber shell casings scattered on the ground near reactors No. 5 and No. 6. There were no signs of broken windows or other physical damage," the IAEA said.
It is noted that the IAEA team present at the ZNPP is trying to obtain additional information about this incident.
"Such military activity on or near a major nuclear power plant is clearly unacceptable," said IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.
As reported by "Ukrainian Energy", аll nuclear facilities in Ukraine are under constant supervision of IAEA inspectors, who have access to all nuclear power plants and regularly report on the situation at the stations.
