Electricity consumption in Ukraine is decreasing due to warming

20 December 2024

However, the need for economical light consumption remains from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Electricity consumption is showing a downward trend, according to Ukrenergo NPC. Today, December 20, at 7:00, its level was 1.8% lower than the previous day.

esterday, December 19, the daily maximum of electricity consumption was recorded in the evening. It was 2.8% lower than the previous day's maximum. Experts attribute this to the increase in air temperature in most regions.

Energy experts remind that the Ukrainian power system is currently recovering after 12 massive attacks by Russian troops since the beginning of the year, and there is still a significant capacity deficit. Therefore, the need for economical electricity consumption remains.

Electricity imports from Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, and Moldova continue throughout the day. The total volume is 11,419 MWh, with a maximum capacity of up to 1,207 MW in individual hours.

EU heads of state and government condemned Russia's targeted attacks on critical infrastructure and called for increased electricity exports to Ukraine.

As reported by "Ukrainian Energy", this was stated in the conclusions of the European Council following the meeting in Brussels on December 19.
