Electricity exports to Ukraine must be increased - EU leaders

20 December 2024

These conclusions were reached by the European Council following a meeting in Brussels

EU heads of state and government condemned Russia's targeted attacks on critical infrastructure and called for increased electricity exports to Ukraine.

This was stated in the conclusions of the European Council following the meeting in Brussels on December 19, Ukrinform reports.

"The European Council strongly condemns Russia's intensive and deliberate campaign against Ukrainian energy and other critical infrastructure, which aims to weaponize winter. It calls for increased material support and accelerated delivery to help Ukraine maintain the viability of its electricity infrastructure. In this context, the European Council welcomes the actions of member states, in particular those neighbouring Ukraine, to export electricity to Ukraine and stresses the need to increase the volume," the document states.

European leaders called for further integration of the energy systems of Ukraine and Moldova into the EU energy network.

"The European Union remains committed to supporting Ukraine in the context of repair, recovery and reconstruction in coordination with international partners," the European Council's final document states.

As reported by "Ukrainian Energy", NEURC has set the electricity transmission tariff for 2025. The tariff is UAH 686.23 (excluding VAT) per 1 MWh.
