The number of wind farm turbines will increase from 19 to 83, and the capacity will increase fourfold - from 114 to 500 MW
In 2025, DTEK Energy Holding plans to accelerate the construction of the Tyligul wind power plant in the Mykolaiv region and will invest 450 million euros in its construction, the company's press service reports.
This project will be the largest private sector investment in Ukraine since the full-scale Russian invasion and the largest private investment in the country's energy sector in its history, DTEK emphasizes.
It is noted that the number of wind farm turbines will increase from 19 to 83, and the capacity will increase fourfold - from 114 to 500 MW. The total investment in construction will amount to 650 million euros.
At full capacity, the Tyligul Wind Farm will produce 1.7 TWh of electricity per year — enough to provide electricity to 900,000 Ukrainian homes, which is equivalent to the energy needed to charge every smartphone in the EU for a year, DTEK explains.
The company plans to complete the construction of the expanded wind farm by the end of 2026.
As a reminder, the decision to build the Tyligulska wind farm was made in 2020 as part of DTEK's strategy to expand its renewable energy portfolio. The facility is located in Mykolaiv region. Over time, the project will increase DTEK's "green" energy capacity from 1 GW to 1.5 GW.
In May 2023, DTEK commissioned the first stage of the Tiligulska WPP. The first stage consists of 19 Vestas EnVentus V162-6.0 MW wind turbines with a total capacity of 114 MW. The cost of the first stage was 200 million euros. The projected annual electricity production of the first stage of the Tiligulska WPP is 390 million kWh. This is enough to power 200 thousand homes.
In December 2023, DTEK Group and wind turbine manufacturer Vestas signed a memorandum of understanding at the UN climate conference COP28 to complete the construction of the Tiligul wind power plant.
As reported by "Ukrainian Energy", in 2024, up to 44.6 MW of wind power plants were installed in Ukraine, while in 2023 the installed capacity of new wind power plants was 238 MW.
