Regions received about 600 MW of new generation capacity in half a year

Communities and regions are confidently on course for energy decentralization – Deputy Head of the President's Office Viktor Mykyta

According to Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Viktor Mykyta, in the first half of 2025, an additional 591 MW of new generation was created in the regions of Ukraine.

"This concerns 84 MW of connected capacity from wind power plants, 101.4 MW from solar power plants, and 84 MW from solar power plants installed in private households. Separately, work is underway to create connected capacity through cogeneration. So, now we have an additional 320.2 MW. In addition, we added 1.2 MW from mini-thermal power plants," the official said in a statement.

Thus, communities and regions are confidently pursuing energy decentralization, notes Viktor Mykyta.

According to him, this is one of the priority tasks of the heads of regional military administrations on the ground. The work is carried out within the framework of the developed energy independence passports of the regions, which are a strategic tool for the effective development of distributed generation, including gas, in all regions of Ukraine.

Innovative projects will make it impossible for the enemy to destroy the new decentralized energy system, which means that there will be light in homes despite constant Russian attacks, emphasizes Viktor Mykyta.

Recall that in the fall of 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers, in order to promote the development of distributed generation in Ukraine, simplified the relevant permitting procedures for businesses and citizens and created financial incentives.

In December last year, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, together with the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine (Minvidnovlenie), by order No. 496/1502, approved the passports of energy independence of regions. These documents reflect a comprehensive assessment of the potential for the development of distributed generation in each region. According to the order, regional military administrations must develop a clear action plan for the development of distributed generation, taking into account the specifics of each region.
