"Energia" is an important enterprise of the Russian military-industrial complex
An important Russian military-industrial complex plant, Energia, in the city of Yelets, Lipetsk region, has been attacked in Russia, the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Andriy Kovalenko, reported on his Telegram channel.
This factory produced:
- accumulators and batteries for unmanned aerial vehicles, aviation, naval fleet, radio engineering;
- lithium-ion and mercury-zinc cells used in communication, control, electronic warfare (EW) systems and simulators for tanks and missile systems;
- electrochemical capacitors, which are used for the needs of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation;
- light-optical power plants, which provide autonomous power supply without laying power lines.
The report states that Energia is a supplier to the Russian Ministry of Defense, and also cooperates with other state structures, such as Roscosmos, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the FSB, the Ministry of Emergencies, and Gazprom. The company's products are used in communication, control, electronic warfare, UAV systems, as well as in the production of Iskander and Kinzhal missiles.
The plant is under sanctions by the EU, the US, Japan and other countries due to its importance to the Russian military-industrial complex. However, it was still operating. Now, after the attack, the plant has suspended operations.
As reported by "Ukrainian Energy", part of Poltava region is without electricity due to a Russian drone attack. One person was injured, but she refused hospitalization.
