Ukrenergo notes a trend towards decreasing electricity consumption

05 June 2025

As of the morning of June 5, consumption from the general grid has decreased due to the efficient operation of solar power plants in clear weather

According to NPC Ukrenergo, today, Thursday, June 5, electricity consumption in Ukraine is showing a downward trend. Thus, as of 9:30 a.m., its level was 3.4% lower than on Wednesday morning.

The transmission system operator cites the establishment of clear weather throughout Ukraine as the reason for this trend, which ensures the efficient operation of household solar power plants (SPPs) and a corresponding reduction in energy consumption from the general network.

Yesterday, Wednesday, June 4, the daily maximum consumption recorded in the evening was at the same level as the maximum of the previous day - June 3.

Overall, the power system is balanced on June 5, and no planned restrictions for consumers are foreseen, the Ministry of Energy said in a statement.

Ukrenergo reminds that the Ukrainian power system is still being restored after massive missile and drone attacks by Russian troops, and emergency restoration work is ongoing at energy facilities.

Therefore, given the high efficiency of solar power plants, consumers are asked today to postpone active energy consumption (use of powerful electrical appliances) to daytime - from 10:00 to 18:00.

As reported by "Ukrainian Energy", yesterday, Wednesday, June 4, "Ukrenergo" recorded an increase in electricity consumption in the country due to cloudy weather and, accordingly, lower efficiency of solar power plants. Due to bad weather, residents of more than 180 settlements were left without electricity as of Wednesday morning.
