The financing package from the European Investment Bank and the European Commission covers hydroelectric power plants, district heating for communities, etc
The European Investment Bank has signed agreements worth almost 600 million euros to finance new projects in Ukraine.
This is reported by Ukrinform with reference to EIB President Nadia Calvinho.
According to her, the agreements were signed within the framework of the Conference on the Restoration of Ukraine, which is underway in Rome.
In addition, an agreement was signed with 10 export credit agencies to provide European guarantees to EU companies exporting to Ukraine.
The package presented by the EIB Group and the European Commission covers financing of works on hydroelectric power plants, as well as district heating for communities, roads, bridges, border crossings and small businesses; financing of critical infrastructure.
Thanks to a significant grant from the German government, the EIB will be able to step up its support for the green transition of Ukrainian communities. And to ensure the rapid distribution of grants, the EIB is joining forces with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The new agreements bring EIB Group support to Ukraine to €3.6 billion since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022.
The package announced in Rome also includes financing for Ukrainian small and medium-sized enterprises. The support comes through new loans and EU guarantees provided by the EIB Group to Ukrainian banks - Ukrgasbank, Ukreximbank, Lviv Bank, Kredobank and a subsidiary of Greece's Piraeus Bank. The move, bankers promise, will unlock even more financing for small businesses in Ukraine.
As reported by "Ukrainian Energy", the EU is allocating a new package of 2.3 billion euros to Ukraine for recovery. In particular, 600 million euros will be allocated to energy, transport, and production.
