Electricity consumption is decreasing in Ukraine - Ukrenergo

20 January 2025

The reason is the increase in air temperature and sunny weather in the western, southern and eastern regions, which leads to high efficiency of household solar power plants

Electricity consumption in Ukraine is showing a downward trend, according to Ukrenergo NPC.

"Today, January 20, its level at 9:00 was 2.5% lower than at this time of the previous working day - on Friday," the regulator said in a statement. Energy experts say the reason for such changes is the increase in air temperature in most regions and sunny weather in the western, southern and eastern regions, which determines the high efficiency of household solar power plants.

"On January 19, the daily maximum consumption was recorded in the evening. It was at the same level as the maximum of the previous Sunday, January 12," Ukrenergo noted. Currently, the power system is still being restored after the Russian massive missile and drone attacks. Emergency restoration work at power facilities is ongoing.

As Ukrainian Energy reported, DTEK Energy specialists "raised" TPPs from scratch more than 20 times in 2024. In total, almost 4,000 power engineers and repairmen were involved in eliminating the consequences of Russian massive attacks on the company's thermal power plants and in restoration work last year.
