In-house transformer manufacturing can save a company up to 50% of its costs compared to purchasing such equipment.
Specialists of JSC "Zaporizhzhiaoblenergo" assembled two new transformers on their own at the electrical equipment repair shop, the head of the regional distribution system operator (DSO) Andriy Stasevskyi reported on Facebook. In addition, Zaporizhzhia power engineers improved their design.
"For us, this is, without exaggeration, a historic event. Especially since these virtually new transformers are also modernized and equipped with safety valves that protect them from irreversible damage," Andriy Stasevsky emphasized.
According to him, the acquired practical experience in assembling new equipment under current conditions is invaluable for the energy security of the Zaporizhia region.
And the economic effect of producing transformers on our own base, compared to purchasing from third-party suppliers, can be 50% cost savings, noted the head of the OSR.
The transformer is the "heart" of the substation, depending on the capacity, some of them power hundreds of consumers, larger ones distribute electricity to tens of thousands of subscribers, explained the head of Zaporizhzhiaoblenergo.
"It is clear that transformers are becoming a key target for enemy attacks," he noted.
"Zaporizhzhiaoblenergo" receives assistance with equipment from the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine, the company purchases part of it at its own expense, which generally covers current needs, says Andriy Stasevsky.
"However, to create a reserve and stock for the future - especially when it comes to restoring energy supply in the deoccupied territories - this is not enough," he emphasized.
As reported by "Ukrainian Energy", оn Monday, May 26, electricity consumption from the general network increased by almost 8% due to low efficiency of solar power plants in cloudy weather.
