This is about technical and legislative support for the development of the biomethane industry within the framework of the Ukrainian-Danish Energy Partnership Program.
The Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine (GTSOU) has become a partner of the Ukrainian-Danish Energy Partnership Program in cooperation on the development of the biomethane market in Ukraine, the company reported.
Representatives of the OGTSU will be involved in the governing body – the Coordination Committee of this Program.
The State Agency for Energy Efficiency and the State Agency for Energy Efficiency, coordinated by the Ministry of Energy, together with the Danish Energy Agency (DEA), will develop tools for the sustainable development of the biomethane market - through technical and legislative support.
"The development of the biomethane market is one of the strategic directions for the OGTSU. We have been involved in every stage of preparing the regulatory framework for the functioning of the market and the possibility of exporting biomethane. Therefore, we are pleased to join this Program in order to create tools for the further development of the industry together with colleagues and international experts," emphasized Kateryna Kovalenko, Head of the Strategy Department of the OGTSU.
Although the regulatory framework for the functioning of the biomethane market has already been established, much work remains to be done to develop the new sector, according to the OGTSU. With the support of the DEA, technical seminars and consultation meetings will be organized for interested Ukrainian participants to determine a joint action plan for the development of the biomethane industry in Ukraine.
As "Ukrainian Energy" reported, the Ministry of Energy believes that Ukrainian biomethane can replace Russian gas on the European Union market.
