The gas market for households is expected to be launched in Ukraine on 1 May
Ukrainian Energy reported that speaking at the Forum of Reforms: On the Way to Vilnius, DiXi Group President Olena Pavlenko said that the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection must take efforts to ensure that after 1 May, consumers have the choice of many gas suppliers, not just one.
“Beginning from 1 May, the placement of special obligations for households must disappear. Ukrainians will receive gas at market prices. The Ministry and the government forecast no extraordinary jump in prices, but at the same time, market means the right to choose from among various suppliers competing for the consumer,” Mrs. Pavlenko said.
In her opinion, the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection must take efforts to ensure that consumers have the choice of many suppliers, not just one.
“We actually saw the Minister’s efforts to meet with Ukrposhta and Ukrenergo to motivate them for entering the gas market. It would be good if these efforts continue and produce results,” Mrs. Pavlenko added.
